Idli Recipe : Ingredients

Urad dal 1 Cup
Idli rice 3 Cup
Salt As per Taste
Yellow Arhar Lentil 1 Cup
onions 2 pices
brinjal 1 pices
ladyfinger 100gm
carrot 2 pices
tomato 2 pices
curry leaves 5-6 pices
drumsticks 5-6 pices
turmeric 1 spoon
sambar masala 2 spoon
jaggery a littele 
tamarind juice 2 big spoon
mustard 1 teaspoon
red chilli powder 1 yeaspoon
coconut finly chopped
ginger 1 inch
green chilli 2 pices
roasted chana dal 1 spoon


Idli steamer or pressure cooker 
Blender or wet grinder
Large bowl
Thin cotton cloth

Idli Recipe : Direction 

Step 1st

To make idli, first of all we will soak the urad dal. To soak the pulses, first take 1 cup of pulses and wash them with water. Then add water to it and leave it in water for 6-7 hours. Now we will take 3 cups of idli rice and wash it with water, then add water again and leave it for 6-7 hours.

Step 2nd

After 6-7 hours, drain both the rice and lentils from the water and grind them separately in a mixer grinder. After that, mix both the quails together and beat them well. After beating the batter, keep it for 9-10 hours. After 9-10 hours, when the batter gets fermented, add salt as per taste and beat it again.

Step last

After this, you have to apply oil in the idli bowl, pour the idli batter and steam it in the idli steamer for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, you can take out the idli from the steamer and serve it.

Sambar Recipe : Direction 

After this sambar. To make Sambar we have taken 1 cup Yellow Arhar Lentil. First wash the lentils thoroughly with water. After this, cut the vegetables you want to add into small pieces. Here we have 2 onions, brinjal, ladyfinger, carrot, tomato, curry leaves and drumsticks to add to the sambar.

After this we will be given gas ovens and Prasure cookers. Put 2 spoons of oil in a pressure cooker and cook it, then add all the vegetables except tomatoes in it. Then fry the vegetables as usual. Along with this, add lentils and fry them. When the vegetables are fried, add 2 cups of water, salt as per taste, 1 teaspoon turmeric, and tomatoes, mix all the vegetables well and then cover the cooker with lid. And wait for the cooker to ring 3 whistles.

When all three whistles are heard, turn off the gas and open the lid of the cooker. again on tha gas oven, Then add some water to it along with sambar masala and jaggery, if not you can add sugar also. And add 2 spoons of tamarind juice. After this, prepare the tempering of mustard, curry leaves and red chilli powder and add it to the sambar. Here your sambar is ready.

Chatni Recipe : Direction 

After this we have to make coconut chutney. To make chutney, we first have to take a mixer grinder jar. Put small pieces of coconut, 1 inch ginger, green chilli, roasted chana dal, 1 spoon tamarind water, and salt as per taste in the jar and grind it along with some water.

After this, we have to put Chowka in it. For Chowka, fry 1 spoon of oil, 1 spoon of mustard, 2 red chillies and 1 spoon of urad dal in the pan and give the Chhatmi Chowka. Here your chutney is ready

Idli Recipe : Tips

  • To make idli, you can add poha or semolina along with urad dal and rice.
  • To make idli batter, you can soak the lentils and rice in water overnight a day before allowing the lentils and rice to swell.
  • Pour only half the idli batter into the plate of the idli steamer because the idli will puff up.
  • When pouring water into the idli steamer, take care that the water does not touch the idli plate.
  • You can also add vegetables of your choice to make sambar.
